5.8 R Integration

R is not supported by Golden Helix Inc. however some people have had success accessing R commands from the Python shell window by importing the Python module rpy and its dependencies. HelixTree includes Python 2.3.5 and successfully accesses R when you download and install the following packages. Note that on Windows you must first run HelixTree before installing these packages so that registry setting can be added for HelixTree’s Python installation. This allows the installers to detect Python and put their packages in the right location.

  • numeric-23.7

After installing these packages the location of R must be added to you PATH environment variable. On Windows the default location of R is C:\Program Files\R\rw2001\bin.
