Golden Helix

Golden Helix is excited to welcome a group of talented individuals who bring a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and professional skills to the table. Each of our new team members adds their unique expertise and perspective, strengthening our ability to serve the genomics and precision medicine community.

With that, we’re pleased to introduce:

Sam Morreall, Area Director of Sales

Sam has 18 years of experience as a consultant for small to medium-sized businesses and healthcare practices, focusing on disruptive technology and automation to improve efficiency and enhance outcomes for patients and practitioners. As a father of 2 young children and the son of a cancer survivor, he is passionate about helping researchers and clinicians in the fight against cancer and pediatric illness.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys exploring nature, especially hiking and kayaking, traveling, and sampling unique local food items.

Britta Whitmer, Accounting and Operations Support Specialist

Britta Whitmer graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science, where she explored systems thinking through the lens of human behavior, microbiology, and nutrition. Her studies and passions for health and optimization have shaped her integrated background in operations and systems design. She is excited to contribute to Golden Helix’s mission and help shape the future of human health through precision medicine.

In her free time, she enjoys riding motorcycles, writing, playing the piano, camping, foraging, and hiking.

Andrew Legan, Technical Field Application Scientist

Andrew earned his PhD in Neurobiology and Behavior at Cornell University and completed postdoctoral fellowships with the USDA (ORISE) and the University of Arizona (NSF PRFB), where his research focused on comparative genomics and molecular evolution. What he values most about working at GHI is being part of a scientifically rigorous, supportive team that advances the use of genomics in precision medicine.

Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, fly fishing, and paragliding, and actively contributes to iNaturalist.

Fun fact: Andrew shares his fascination with insects through community and online outreach, highlighting their diversity and ecological importance.

Moses Tinio, Area Director of Sales

Moses has nearly 8 years of experience in clinical laboratories and life sciences sales. He is driven by a passion for improving patient care and diagnostics through Golden Helix’s software solutions.

When he’s not working, Moses enjoys volunteering with his Catholic community, powerlifting, dancing, and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Hayley Karol, Technical Marketing Specialist

Hayley earned her Bachelor of Arts from the College of Wooster in Ohio, majoring in Anthropology. She has over four years of marketing experience and enjoys contributing to environmental and altruistically oriented projects. With numerous ties to cancer survivors, she finds Golden Helix’s mission to make personalized medicine more accessible on both a local and global scale especially meaningful, and she sees her work here as a natural continuation of her path.

Hayley enjoys spending time with her husband and chosen family, exploring Montana’s seasons, cooking, reading, and pursuing an ever-increasing number of creative hobbies.

Persephone Fossi, Sales Prospector

Persephone brings three years of experience as an office assistant in a gynecology practice and the Dean’s Office for the College of Letters and Sciences at MSU. She’s excited to contribute to work that helps science improve people’s lives.
