3.4 The File Menu

The Project Navigator view’s File menu allows the use of all the options, including those that were grayed out in the opening window.

3.4.1 Open Project

To open an existing project, click on the Open An Existing Project icon or select the File->Open Project menu item (Fig. 3.7. If a project is already open and its data has been modified, a message box (Fig. appears asking if the current open project should be saved before opening the new project.

Once the current project is saved, or if there was no current project, the following dialog appears for you to select a project to open. This picture shows the Optimus RP Discovery folder opened and the Discovery.ghp project file highlighted. Click the Open button.

3.4.2 Save Project

To save a project, click on the Save Current Project icon or select the File->Save Project menu item. A project can be saved at any time. Saving a project causes the state of its Viewers and Navigator Nodes to be written to the (.ghp) project file

3.4.3 Close Project

To close a project, click on the Close Current Project icon or select the File->Close Project menu item. The current project will be closed without shutting down Optimus RP. If the project has been modified, a message box (Fig. will be displayed.

3.4.4 Import Data

To import data, select the File->Import Data... menu item. This menu item adds a new data set Navigator Node associated with the imported data to the project in the Navigator Window. The complete details of data import are in Chapter 4.

3.4.5 Recent Project Files

Optimus RP remembers the last few projects you have opened. To access the list of the most recently opened projects, select the File->Recent Project Files menu item. This can help you to quickly locate an existing project and avoid time browsing your network.

3.4.6 Quit

Select the File->Quit menu item to close Optimus RP. If there is an open project and it has been modified, a message box will be displayed asking if the project should be saved before closing Optimus RP.
