Reflecting on ASHG 2017

· Andreas Scherer · News, Events, & Announcements

We’ve returned from another successful year at ASHG and had an incredible time. I find the conference to be a terrific opportunity to connect with our customers, partners, and friends in the industry.

This year’s Presidential Symposium was a true delight featuring a discussion of global health and genomics between two absolute legends in the health and science world: Bill Gates, Co-chair and Trustee of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Francis Collins, MD, Ph.D., Director of the U.S. National Institutes of Health. Bill gave a speech about the work of his foundation. He is working among other things on systematically eradicating entire diseases from this planet. Small pox has been already eliminated. The next target is Polio with only a couple known outbreaks left globally.

We had over 400 visitors stopping by our booth, expressing interest in our clinical stack. We gave numerous demos on our latest CNV capabilities, clinical reporting and data warehouse (pictured below). I also enjoyed the opportunity to meet with Golden Helix partners at the event. We have a few updates for you in the coming months.

It is no surprise that our t-shirts were a huge hit again this year. We always have new designs based on our annual t-shirt competition in the summer.  In particular, our tiger t-shirt which has gathered a firm fan base (like this family below). It seems we never can bring enough of those! 🙂

Check out this great 99% Tiger family!

I’d like to thank all of our clients and partners that joined us in Orlando. We look forward to connecting again during ASHG 2018 in San Diego!
