We’re thrilled to announce that VarSeq 3.0.0 is right around the corner, and with it comes one of the most exciting updates yet: a complete reimagining of the Assessment Catalogs system. Whether you’re curating clinically relevant variants, tracking tumor-specific calls, or building rich catalogs of sample information, the new system is designed to be more powerful, more versatile, and easier to use than ever before.
Smarter Record Management
The Assessment Catalogs experience has been completely refreshed to give you better control and flexibility. With a streamlined interface, you can now query, add, and modify records with ease. Catalog record management has never been more intuitive.
Highly Customizable Catalogs
Your catalogs should reflect your workflow, not the other way around. With VarSeq 3.0.0, customization takes center stage. You can now add fields that matter most to your work, whether user Tags, Disorders, OMIM IDs, or cancer-specific fields like Tumor Type. The new Settings tab makes tailoring catalogs to your exact needs quick and straightforward.
New Types of Assessment Catalogs
We’ve expanded the catalog system with two entirely new types:
- Sample Catalog: Perfect for linking VCF paths, BAM paths, and sample-specific information, such as family relationships or phenotype data.
- Breakend Catalog: Built to support complex structural variant tracking with the same flexibility and precision you expect from VarSeq.
Simplified Catalog Management
Catalogs are now handled in one convenient place with our Catalog Manager. From here, you can:
- Create catalogs from scratch, existing sources, or directly from a VarSeq table.
- Import data from files or annotations.
- Open and manage catalogs within VarSeq with just a few clicks.
This centralized management system makes it easier than ever to organize, import, and curate catalogs so they’re always ready to support your analysis.
A Smooth Transition: Conversion Made Easy
We know how important your existing catalogs are, and we’ve made sure upgrading won’t slow you down. VarSeq 3.0.0 comes with a built-in conversion system that allows you to seamlessly bring your existing SQLite catalogs into the new format. It’s quick, easy, and ensures that none of your valuable information gets left behind.
Final Thoughts
With VarSeq 3.0.0, Assessment Catalogs aren’t just improved, they’re transformed. This release is designed to make your variant interpretation and sample curation workflows more efficient, more customizable, and more future-ready.
