Precision Medicine e-Book
“It’s far more important to know what person the disease has than what disease the person has.” – Hippocrates (460 BC – 370 BC)
Almost 2,500 years ago, Hippocrates captured one of the key principles underlying precision medicine. In the 21st century we take the understanding of the individual characteristics of a person to a new level. By leveraging information about an individual’s genome we are able to increase the effectiveness of medical treatments. The goal is to have more successful outcomes by providing targeted therapies.
The cost of sequencing a genome has dramatically dropped since the first draft of the human genome sequence was published in 2001. This is a key enabler. Now, it is very much in reach for a wide range of patients to receive a gene panel analysis or even a whole exome/genome analysis. In my most recent e-Book on “Precision Medicine”, I leverage Golden Helix’s 17 years of experience in the genetic space conducting business with hundreds of leading research organizations, genetic testing labs, pharma companies and government agencies. In the book, I review the state of the art of Precision Medicine covering the following topics:
- New treatment and diagnostics options
- Regulatory Issues
- Adoption by Patients and Health Care Professionals
- Reimbursement and Cost
- Education
- Bioinformatics Pipelines and System Infrastructure
Essentially, this e-Book discusses the different success factors for a wide adoption of Precision Medicine. Please feel free to download the full copy here.
