• Rebecca Bellone and colleagues published Genetic risk for squamous cell carcinoma of the nictitating membrane parallels that of the limbus in Haflinger horses in Animal Genetics which is validates the need for genetic testing in regards to mating decisions among this species of horses.

• Whole-Exome Sequencing in Searching for New Variants Associated With the Development of Parkinson’s Disease, published by Petr Slominsky and colleagues in Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience, studied 48 unrelated patients with the disease and developed a strategy for analysis and selection using available bioinformatics resources.

• Adam McIntyre along with his colleagues published an interesting article in the Journal of Investigative Medicine High Impact Case Reports, A De Novo POLD1 Mutation Associated with Mandibular Hypoplasia, Deafness, Progeroid Features, and Lipodystrophy Syndrome in a Family with Werner Syndrome, taking a look at a family with phentotypically normal parents and 4 children with progeroid features.

• The effect of childhood trauma on blood transcriptome expression in major depressive disorder published by Chiara Magri and colleagues in the Journal of Psychiatric Research, take a closer look at childhood trauma and how it can affect distinct molecular pathways.
